Arthur Anton Skuratowicz GJG (GIA)
Senior Member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers
Arthur Anton Skuratowicz, a third generation jeweler, has been a jeweler/gemologist since 1980 and is a Graduate Jeweler Gemologist (GIA) as well as a Senior Member of the NAJA. Arthur was the first instructor at the Gemological Institute of America to teach both Gemology and Jewelry Manufacturing Arts. He did this for nearly 8 years, with an additional 7 years as an independent contract instructor at GIA New York.
Apprenticing at an early age with his family business, he studied jewelry and gemology under his father, a GIA graduate himself, and grandfather, a jeweler and watchmaker trained in Europe. Arthur would later incorporate his personal experiences with formal training to offer a down to earth yet technical approach to retail jewelry, gemology and jewelry manufacturing.
Along with his wife Julie Nash, Arthur is co-author of the book Working With Gemstones: A Bench Jeweler’s Guide.
